Remote LCSW & LMFT Jobs in Nebraska

Find work opportunities and resources for remote LCSW & LMFT jobs in Nebraska.

Like many states throughout the U.S., Nebraska is dealing with a shortage of mental health workers. According to reports, 88 of the state’s 93 counties do not have enough mental health professionals to meet their communities' needs. Rural areas are being hit particularly hard.

As a result, there is a growing demand for social workers throughout the Cornhusker State, including remote opportunities. This is especially true for those who hold a Provisional Certification as a Master Social Worker (PCMSW) and Certified Marriage and Family Therapists (CMFT). If you are certified to practice in Nebraska, you will find remote opportunities in mental health care facilities, hospitals, and clinics, among others.

Here’s what you should know before applying for a role in remote social work:

  • Work-from-home therapist: All remote mental health therapists must provide the same quality of care as those who work on-site. The key difference is that those who offer teletherapy use websites, phones, web platforms, and other technology to connect with clients. If you provide virtual mental health therapy, you can only treat clients in the state in which you’re licensed.

  • Skills of successful remote therapists: All therapists must have superb communication skills in order to be successful. That is particularly true for those who offer virtual therapy. As a result, many therapists start their careers by working with clients in person. This allows them to develop and polish their one-on-one skills before they offer remote treatment.

  • Necessary documentation: It’s essential to provide an up-to-date resume and appropriate documentation showing your education and credentials when applying for remote social work jobs.

  • Additional training: As a remote mental health therapist, you’ll need to stay abreast of the latest technology to best serve your clients’ needs. Take advantage of trainings offered by telemedicine companies that educate clinicians on how to use relevant technology and platforms, as well as best practices for good webside manner.
