How to Become a Remote Nurse Practitioner in Vermont

Vermont faces a staffing shortage of healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners, for several reasons. In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic, the state is dealing with an aging workforce and stagnant population. As a result, there are many full-time and part-time remote work opportunities in the state, from Burlington and Rutland, to Bennington and Montpelier.

If you are interested in a role as a remote nurse practitioner (also referred to as a telemedicine nurse practitioner), keep the following information in mind as you apply for this job title:

  • Work-from-home nurse practitioner or remote nurse practitioner: In this role, you can avoid daily commutes, often enjoy a flexible schedule, and perform many of your duties from your own home. Some employers may require some on-site work, so be sure to check the job description for this requirement or discuss it with the hiring manager.

  • Additional training: You may need to complete specific training related to your employer’s technology and platforms. This may also include best practices for good webside manner. This training is vital, because it helps to ensure all nurse practitioners provide the same level of care.

  • Necessary documentation: Keep your resume, license, and other professional documentation updated and readily available.
