Profiles in Telehealth: Renae Flowers - Associate Regulatory Counsel

Get to know Wheel Associate Regulatory Counsel, Renae Flowers!

What’s your role at Wheel?

I am Associate Regulatory Counsel for Wheel and started with the company in October 2020. In my role, I advise on laws and regulations impacting telehealth, such as patient privacy, prescribing, and provider scope of practice. My days vary a lot, which is what I really love about Wheel. Every day there is a new challenge or new issue that I get to tackle.

What’s your background? What did you do before working with Wheel?

I am a country girl at heart. I grew up in Luling, Texas, a small oil town famous for its barbecue and watermelon. I completed my undergrad degree at The University of Texas (Hook ‘em Horns!), went to law school at Marquette University, and received my LL.M. from Hofstra University.

Outside of work, I love to read, kayak, and enjoy the outdoors with my dog, Russell.

Before joining Wheel, I worked for a global law firm and also worked a couple of years for the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.

Why did you join the Wheel team?

I joined Wheel because I love the people, the mission, and its core values. Everyday I am surrounded by such passionate, empathetic people, and it’s awesome to see everyone work towards a common goal.

What’s your favorite Wheel moment?

The pandemic has significantly changed the way we interact with each other, so my favorite Wheel moment was when I got to meet some of my teammates in person for the first time!

What do you think the future of healthcare holds?

I think the future of healthcare will not differentiate between virtual or in-person. Healthcare will just be healthcare. I am excited for laws and regulations to catch up to the technology, so there are less barriers.

Thanks, Renae, for all your hard work with The Wheel Team! We appreciate everything you do.
