Profiles in Telehealth: Julia Guerra - Product Operations Lead

Get to know Wheel Product Operations Lead - Julia Guerra!

What’s your role at Wheel?

I am the Product Operations Lead at Wheel, working closely with our Operations and Product teams to drive alignment on the product focus and strategy. Where should we invest time and resources that will provide the most impact on the clinician and Wheelie experience? That is the question we work daily to answer. To do that, we meet regularly with Ops teams to understand where our biggest challenges and opportunities lie. Then we bring those insights to our Product team to prioritize and execute innovative solutions.

What’s your background? What did you do before working with Wheel?

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area to a family of air traffic controllers before moving to northern Arizona for college. After graduating with an MBA, I worked at a couple of companies before landing at a start up in Phoenix. The start up was acquired by a coupon company in Austin, a city that is obviously growing with lots of opportunities in tech, so my now husband and I packed up & moved to Texas with our dog. We've been here almost 5 years and are having the best time. Outside of work we love trying new restaurants, hiking, traveling, cooking & watching reality tv.

Why did you join the Wheel team?

Two things initially attracted me to Wheel: the mission of the company and the passion of the people that worked there.

I started at Wheel in February 2021 leading the clinician onboarding team, and 18 months later the people and mission still inspire me daily. I've had the pleasure of working directly with clinicians and hearing the impact that Wheel has on their work/life balance never gets old. It's also really fun working in a space where tech and healthcare meet.

There is a lot to learn & explore, and Wheel leadership challenges employees to get creative and ask questions. No day is the same as we work together to make Wheel the best platform for clinicians, clients, and patients.

What’s your favorite Wheel moment?

Wheel Live - the first time our whole company was together in person! It was so fun officially meeting everyone. I also love it every time I have a personal interaction with one of our clinicians. We learn so much from them about what they value, what is working, what is not working, etc. but the common thread through all of them is a patient-first mindset. They are so inspiring and make working at Wheel very rewarding.

What do you think the future of healthcare holds?

Telehealth is bringing care to people who have historically had limited access. This is more important than ever as the pandemic has left a lot of vulnerable groups even more limited, particularly those with a substance use disorder. Telehealth has the potential to be incredibly powerful for those whose critical recovery treatments were suddenly impacted by Covid-19. More and more employers are providing benefit opportunities to their employees through online tools and support, and more tech start ups are popping up to provide therapy, consults for prescriptions, screening, support groups, etc to patients - huge strides to address this still taboo subject that affects 1 in 10 Americans.

Thanks, Julia, for all your hard work with The Wheel Team! We appreciate everything you do.
